Pistons head coach Lawrence Frank talks about opportunity to play in London

(WXYZ) - The Detroit Pistons (14-24) are on their way to London.

They'll be hosting the division leading New York Knicks (24-13) at the O2 Arena in London Thursday at 3p.m.

The Pistons had their final practice before flying across the Pond, yesterday. That's where head coach Lawrence Frank talked about the great opportunity an overseas game presents.

"It's a special opportunity to be able to go to London. It's an international game, and the international growth is great for everyone," said Frank.

He went on to say, "It's a privilege to be able to go over there. You just think about how this game has gone global… You think about all the foreign born players, and the two we have on our team…  It's great to be able to share these experiences [with them], and it's definitely a positive."

The game in London is actually a home game for the Pistons, and Frank is hoping that a raucous crowd will be pulling for his team.

He says, "It's a really great environment. The O2 and their fans are extremely excited for NBA basketball."

But Frank isn't getting too carried away. He knows at the end of the day a win, or a loss in London will effect the standings all the same.

"It will be a fun place to play. London's a beautiful city. But at the end of the day, you're there to go win a game," said Frank.
