(WXYZ) - The Pistons may be closing in on an additional piece to their offseason puzzle.
Jason Collins has reportedly been in talks to join the Pistons. According to ESPN, no formal offer has been made, but the team has expressed interest in signing Collins because of 'his veteran know-how.'
The 34-year old center would add depth to the Pistons roster behind Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe. Last season he split time between the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards.
Collins played 38 games in 2012-13, averaging less than two points and two rebounds in 10.1 minutes per game. In 12 seasons, he has averaged 3.6 points and 3.8 rebounds in 20.8 minutes per game.
He has not played more than 15 minutes per game since 2007-08.
This April, Collins told Sports Illustrated he is gay, becoming the first openly gay active athlete in the four major sports.
