Red Wings captain Nick Lidstrom honored in Novi today

Nick Lidstrom is known to be soft spoken, humble and one of the best players in the game of hockey. Today in Novi, Lidstrom was honored for all those things and for something else, being a good citizen.

Lidstrom had a street named after him in Novi today.  Arena Drive, which leads to the Novi Ice Arena, is now known as Nick Lidstrom Drive.  Lidstrom, a Novi resident and big supporter of amateur hockey in the city, was himself humbled calling the re-naming of the street "a tremendous honor".

Lidstrom was presented with a plaque and replica of the street sign bearing his name.

"Nicklas Lidstrom is a local icon and we are proud he chose Novi as the community in which to live and raise his family in Michigan," commented David B. Landry, Mayor, City of Novi. "His involvement with youth hockey at the City of Novi Ice Arena is a testament to Mr. Lidstrom's commitment to the future of hockey, good sportsmanship, and exemplary of the community spirit for which Novi is known."
