According to a pair of reports tonight, Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly interviewed for the Philadelphia Eagles head coaching job shortly after Monday's BCS Championship Game.
FOX Sports initially reported interest on both sides regarding the opening in Philadelphia, and ESPN reported shortly thereafter that Kelly and representatives from the Eagles met in Miami to discuss the job.
Kelly, according to both reports, is currently out of the country.
The former Grand Valley State head coach moved to Central Michigan in 2004, where he led the Chippewas to the MAC Championship in 2006.
Kelly left Central Michigan for the Cincinnati head coaching job in 2006 and led the Bearcats to a pair of Big East titles and an undefeated regular season in 2009. He accepted the Notre Dame head coaching job before Cincinnati lost to Florida in the 2010 Sugar Bowl.
Since taking over at Notre Dame, Kelly has won 28 games in three seasons, leading the Fighting Irish to an undefeated record this year and an appearance in Monday's BCS Championship Game against Alabama.
The Eagles head coaching job became available after Philadelphia fired Andy Reid following a 14-year stretch on the sidelines. This search is the Eagles' first since 1999, when they hired Reid away from the Green Bay Packers.
