AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) -- The Detroit Pistons waived 2016 second-round draft pick Michael Gbinije on Saturday.

The Detroit Free Press reports that the Pistons would not guarantee the $1.3 million Gbinije would make if they kept him, which frees up more cap space for the team.

He appeared in nine games for the Pistons this season, scoring four points in 32 total minutes played.
