DETROIT (AP) - Recently retired Tigers manager Jim Leyland is to be honored on stage as a special guest at a charity event in Detroit.
"Detroit Legacies in Black and White" is set for Monday at the Fox Theatre. It's to be hosted by best-selling author Mitch Albom and federal Judge Damon Keith.
Leyland guided the Tigers to two World Series appearances. He's to take part in an onstage conversation about his career and be presented with a video tribute.
"Detroit Legacies in Black and White" is a fundraiser for Detroit charities through S.A.Y. Detroit and The Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights.
Attendees are expected to include Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, comedian Tim Meadows, Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard and former Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr.
