EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Damarco White scored 15 points Saturday morning and Southfield Christian won its second straight Class D state championship by beating Wyoming Tri-Unity Christian 65-46.
Tri-Unity scored the first basket of the second half to cut its deficit to 34-25 but the by Eagles (23-4) turned the game into a rout with an 18-2 spurt.
Eugene Brown and Bakari Evelyn each scored 13 points, while Lindsey Hunter IV added 11 in Southfield's 20th straight victory. Brown also had nine rebounds.
The Eagles took the lead for good with a 9-0 run midway through the first quarter and led 34-23 at intermission.
Daniel Cole had 21 points and Matt Wachter added 11 and nine rebounds for the Defenders (25-3), who were seeking the school's fifth state title.
