SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Malik McDowell is going to Michigan State.
The Southfield High School defensive tackle went against his parents' best wishes Wednesday morning, and announced he was signing with the Spartans.
After a long recruitment process, when many experts expected him to pick in the late summer, McDowell has finally made his choice.
His mother, Joya Crowe, told Joe Rexrode of the Detroit Free Press she did not want her son to attend Michigan State. The other colleges McDowell considered were Florida State, Michigan, and Ohio State.
McDowell announced his decision in front of teammates and classmates at Southfield High School.
