EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State may not have been able to finish off Nebraska Saturday, but one Spartan came away from the loss with an award.
Spartans punter Mike Sadler was named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week Monday, for his performance in the team's 28-24 loss.
Sadler punted seven times Saturday, totaling 326 yards and averaging 46.6 yards per punt.
He put three punts inside the Huskers 20-yard line, adding to his total of 42 punts inside the opponents' 20 this season.
The award is the second of his career and first since November 7, 2011.
Michigan State dropped to 5-5 overall and 2-4 in the Big Ten with its loss to Nebraska.
Huskers quarterback Taylor Martinez was named Big Ten co-Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 205 yards and two touchdowns. He passed for 160 yards and two scores. The award is the fourth he has picked up this season.
