Statue of Bo Schembechler unveiled at University of Michigan

(WXYZ) - A statue of legendary coach Bo Schembechler will greet visitors as they enter the building that bears his name.

Renovations to Schembechler Hall are complete and a private event was held Friday night in Ann Arbor, highlighted by the unveiling of the statue.

The likeness of Schembechler is framed by his famous quote, "Those Who Stay Will Be Champions."

According to Michigan athletic director David Brandon, the statue was made possible by a generous donation from Bob Browne, a close friend of Schembechler.

J. Brett Grill sculpted the statue that will "give people a sense of Bo pacing the sidelines, leading his team, and now leading everyone on a walk through time and into the future of this football program," wrote Brandon in his blog on MGoBlue.com .

The new Towsley Museum inside Schembechler Hall, which features a stunning collection of artifacts celebrating the history of Michigan football, will be open to the public Saturday, April 5 from 9am to 12 noon.

The spring football game/scrimmage will be held at Michigan Stadium at 2pm Saturday afternoon.
