DETROIT - Miguel Cabrera will undergo surgery on his injured groin, the Tigers confirmed via email Monday.
The Tigers third baseman had a Grade 1 and 2 tear in his groin, suffered against the White Sox late in the season.
Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski confirmed the injury last Monday. He said Cabrera would be requiring surgery soon.
Cabrera hit .348 this season with 44 home runs and 137 RBI. He won his third straight batting title.
