Former Michigan guard Tim Hardaway Jr. was selected by the New York Knicks with the 24th overall pick in the NBA Draft.
Hardaway was the second Michigan player drafted in the first round, as Trey Burke was taken with the ninth overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves before being dealt to the Utah Jazz.
When he made the decision to leave Michigan early, some skeptics thought Hardaway would be chosen late in the second round, but his work ethic, consistency, intelligence and pedigree impressed team officials over the last two months.
In his three years at Michigan, Hardaway won a Big Ten championship and also played a major role on a team that advanced to the national championship game in 2013.
He was also named MVP of the NIT tipoff, which Michigan won in New York City at his future home arena, Madison Square Garden
