DETROIT [WXYZ] Even though the Pistons don't pick until the second round of tonight's NBA Draft, Stan Van Gundy is optimistic he can find some help for his team with the 38th pick.
The Pistons lost their first round pick to Charlotte in the Ben Gordon trade but Van Gundy thinks between the draft and free agency, the Pistons can add a couple of pieces to improve his team.
"I don't think we're going to add anybody at 38 where you guys are going to go crazy, like oh my god they got this guy but, there's solid picks there that can help your team," Van Gundy stated.
He also downplayed what impact free agency can do for his team. "I don't think we're going to create a big splash in free agent signings but its guys we really like and if you do it right, the splash you make will be on the court."
The Pistons have a young core group of players in Andre Drummond, Kyle Singler and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to build around and that process begins tonight.
