WATCH & LISTEN: President Obama calls, congratulates Clint Dempsey, Tim Howard on World Cup showing

US Men's National Team Captain Clint Dempsey and goalkeeper Tim Howard received a congratulatory call from President Obama Tuesday, following their showing at the World Cup in Brazil.

After congratulating the team on proudly representing the country, President Obama joked with Howard, "I don't know how you're going to survive the mobs when you come back home, man. You're going to have to shave your beard so they don't know who you are."

Despite almost equal possession between the two teams, Howard endured nearly triple the shots on goal during the USA's 2-1 loss to Belgium in the Round of 16, Tuesday.

Howard's tremendous performance sparked hilarious and viral Twitter memes using the hashtag #ThingsTimHowardCouldSave .
