The Wayne State Warriors may be the best local team you're not watching right now. Just take it from their head coach, Paul Winters.

"They’re just not paying attention. We’ve had a quality program for a while," says Winters.

This is Winters' thirteenth season as the head coach and right now his team is 7-1 and ranked No. 19 in the country.

"I have a great feeling about this team. I think they have a great mindset. I think they have a great togetherness. There’s a family feeling about this group as good as any we’ve head and we've had some very good ones. I think the difference in this team though is the depth. We have depth at every position," says Winters.

The Warriors have the best rushing offense in the conference. That is thanks, in no small part, to junior running back Romello Brown. He's currently the No. 4 rusher in the country. Brown says the Warriors are just fine being "under the radar"

“We don’t need any attention. We’re going to continue to do what we’ve been doing so we can continue to win," says Brown.

Coach Winters agrees. “We don’t worry about it. The biggest thing we try and do is take care of what we can control."

But Coach Winters believes even if they're "under the radar" the Warriors are putting a quality product on the field every weekend. Just take a look at their record: They're undefeated at home.

“People…they want to be a part of Michigan, they want to be a part of Michigan State, and I understand that. But if you really like college football, you come and look at this football team, this is a great football team. And these young men they really pay attention. And they really get it. And as a fan…I love watching them!”

This 2016 team could be the first team to get the Warriors back to the national championship game since 2011, but first they need to pit their top ranked rushing offense against Ferris State's top ranked rushing defense.

"We have to focus on Ferris and Ohio Dominican and Grand Valley and once the playoffs hit and we make the playoffs, then, ya, I think we have a good chance," says Brown.

“We really have to focus on beating Ferris. They’re a great football team, they’ve a lot of success in the past few years. We win that game and anything is within our reach," says Coach Winters.
