SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) - A severe thunderstorm moved through portions of Northern Oakland and Macomb Counties early Saturday Night.
There are multiple reports of storm damage in Clarkston, Lake Orion, and Oxford. Northern Oakland, northern Macomb and southern St. Clair county communities were hit the hardest.
Numerous large trees are down, power lines are down, and lots of reports of hail were received, some say the hail was the size of quarters. No tornadoes have been confirmed across the area, but wind gusts were estimated at up to 60 miles per hour.
According to DTE Energy, 41,000 people are without power, mostly in Macomb, Oakland and St. Clair Counties. They said they should have about 80% of power back on by later tonight.
7 First Alert Meteorologist Chris Edwards says that the threat for severe weather has ended, as the storms have moved east and the atmosphere has stabilized.
