Damage, funnel cloud sighting in Macomb County

RICHMOND TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) - There are several reports a possible funnel cloud sighting in northern Macomb County.

Sirens did go off in the area, but there were no alerts or warnings issued.

There is no indication of any touchdown. Storms were rolling through the area at the time of the sightings.

The worst damage appeared to be in Lenox Township on Place Road between 29 and 30 Mile Road.

Gary lives on Place Road. He was outside of his home when he saw what's believed to be a funnel cloud.

"I never heard a sound like that in my life. I seen leaves and limbs .. and poof! I said I'm goin' in the basement," says Gary.

A 7 Action News viewer Lexie Sharpe sent us photos of campers and trailers flipped over in a driveway. She says about 2:30 p.m., she saw a funnel cloud and heard sirens going off. When she went outside, she saw branches all over the place and the campers flipped over.

Lenox Twp. fire officials say the damage was minimal and there were no injuries reported.
