Super Typhoon Haiyan heading for Philippines, poses serious threat to lives and property

Super Typhoon Haiyan is heading for the Philippines and is one of the year's strongest typhoons to strike the region and poses serious threat to lives and property.

This exceptionally dangerous storm has sustained winds of 190 miles per hour and packing gusts up to 235 miles per hour as it makes it way through the Pacific Ocean. 

The strength of Haiyan is equal to that of an extremely powerful Category 5 hurricane in the Atlantic. 

With its current track, Haiyan will make landfall Friday morning and continue over the Philippines through Friday night.
