Thursday storms dump heavy rain flooding streets across metro Detroit

(WXYZ) - The storms that plowed through the Detroit area Monday night has left flooding in their wake.

The heavy rains flooded many streets, turning them into into rivers.

One of the hardest hit areas in Waterford Township, where video from Chopper 7 shows numerous streets underwater. The storm also knocked down trees and at least one chimney at a home on Watkins Lake.

People in the area say the sky turned black, the wind roared and lighting was everywhere.

Flooding and downed power lines also kept people at home and in the dark in Pontiac.

Those drivers who did try to venture out often found themselves stuck when their cars stalled out while trying to make their way through the flooded streets.
