Serious crash in Mt. Clemens involving Macomb County Sheriff's squad car

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Emergency crews were on the scene of a serious crash in Mt. Clemens on Gratiot, south of M-59, on Friday afternoon.

One of the vehicles involved was flipped on its top. A Macomb County Sheriff's squad car also was involved and appeared to have damage to the front end. According to the Macomb County Sheriff's Department, a deputy was attempting a traffic stop, when the driver of a Mustang fled.

The pursuit ended with the Mustang slamming into an assisting squad car and flipping over.

Police say the driver of the fleeing vehicle was a 43-year-old Mt. Clemens man who was on parole. 

The 43-year-old man and his passenger, a 20-year-old woman, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A Macomb County Sheriff's deputy also suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
