Detroit mayoral candidate Mike Duggan calls into 7 Action News morning after primary win

(WXYZ) - Detroit mayoral candidate Mike Duggan called into 7 Action news Wednesday morning after securing one of the top two spots in Tuesday's primary election.

Although the results won't be official for two weeks, Mike Duggan and Benny Napoleon took the top two spots in the race for Detroit mayor.

Duggan made history Tuesday becoming the first Detroit write-in candidate to gain enough votes to advance to the general election November 5.

He attributed his win to voters seeing him as the candidate who will bring change to the city.

You can hear Duggan's remarks in the video player above.

Napoleon was also scheduled for a phone interview but we were unable to reach him Wednesday morning.
