Detroit's Historic Fort Wayne hosts Medieval Days weekend

The Historic Fort Wayne Coalition continues its summer events Saturday and Sunday, July 9-10 at the Fort, located at 6325 W. Jefferson (at the foot of Livernois), with a Medieval Days weekend from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitors will see how people lived, ate, camped and fought. Demonstrations will include armored combat, weapons throwing (featuring knives, hatchets and axes), fencing, archery, cooking and dancing.

Secured parking is $5 per vehicle. Admission is free for this special weekend, but donations will be accepted.

Guided tours of the Historic Fort Wayne complex will also be offered each day at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., priced at $5 for adults and free for children under 12.

The Fort's regular public hours also continue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday each weekend now through Sunday, October 30.  For more information on special events and activities at
