Broken Sidewalk Chalk

Instead of throwing away your broken pieces of sidewalk chalk that are too small
to use, recycle them and make sidewalk chalk paint!
Items Needed:
Broken pieces of sidewalk chalk
Plastic bags
Rolling pin
Disposable cups
Water
Paint
brush
1. Take broken pieces of chalk and place into plastic bag
2. Using a rolling pin, crush the chalk into small pieces
3. Pour into disposable cup
4. Add water to the broken chalk, make it like pancake batter
5. Make different colours by using the same color, or mix them together to make
your own color
6.Paint your designs onto your driveway or sidewalk
7.Your creation will dry like sidewalk chalk, but go on like pain

Homemade Lava Lamp

Make your own lava lamp and learn about polarity and density.
Items Needed:
Glass vase or jar
Vegetable oil
Water
Food coloring
Alka Seltzer

1.Fill vase with vegetable oil
2.Add water
3.They will not mix because water is polar and vegetable oil is non-polar
4.The water will sink to the bottom of the vase because it is denser than the vegetable oil
5.Add drops of food coloring
6.Drop Alka Seltzer tablet into vase
7.The reaction with the water will create carbon dioxide bubbles that stick to the water droplets
8.The gas and water are now less than the vegetable oil so it will rise to the top
9.The carbon dioxide bubbles pop at the top and the dense water sinks back to the bottom again
