"Basheret": Local playwright's new work on soul mates gets to the heart of friendship

New play on soul mates opens this week in Ferndale

FERNDALE, Mich. (WXYZ) - "Basheret" is the Hebrew word for soul mate.  A new play by local playwright Bailey Boudreau explores the nature of a soul mate.  Do we have just one? Is it limited to romantic relationships only? Or can the group of friends we create for ourselves all be a form of a soul mate?

WickedGreen Productions will premiere this new play in a two day only benefit  August 30th and 31st, 2013 at Affirmations Community Center in Ferndale, Michigan.  Proceeds will go to both Affirmations and The Kyle Holton Memorial Scholarship Fund at Wayne State University. This is a limited engagement charity event.

The play follows Benny (Bailey Boudreau), a working actor struggling with some deep inner demons on the day his show opens. He chooses to spend the day with his closest female friends, a world of characters who color the piece with their unique quirks and friendships.

Boudreau says he uses a a series of "out of sequence, one on one scenes"  to take audiences on a "journey of laughter and tears."  He says his mission is to make you think about your own relationship, by touching the very heart of what friendship means. .

He also notes that Basheret "forces us to look into ourselves and face the things that may be holding us back from being the best we can be."
