Veterans team up for week-long project to improve Detroit's neighborhoods

Military veterans and community volunteers are pitching in to help improve neighborhoods in the city of Detroit. It's a week-long service marathon known as "The Mission Continues." WATCH THE VIDEO PLAYER FOR JOANNE PURTAN'S INTERVIEW ON 7 ACTION NEWS AT NOON.

Veterans from around the nation will join Detroiters and other veterans to make a difference in many communities.

Central High School Restoration - June 25 and June 26 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.: Refurbishing indoor and outdoor spaces at Central High School, 2425 Tuxedo St. in Detroit
 
Osborn Neighborhood Revitalization - June 27 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.: Beautifying parks and future green spaces in partnership with the Osborn Neighborhood Alliance, 13560 McNichols E in Detroit
 
Priest Elementary Playground Build - June 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Giving new life to the playground and surrounding area of Priest Elementary, 7840 Wagner Ave. in Detroit
 
Recovery Park Clean Up - June 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Converting vacant lots and portions of the Chene Ferry Market into clean, vibrant spaces for community events and an urban farm at Recovery Park, 5470 Chene St. in Detroit
