AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Some ramps from I-75 to M-59 and some M-59 ramps to I-75 will close this weekend through the end of October as part of an ongoing road and bridge repair project in Auburn Hills.
According to MDOT, two ramps will close at 3 a.m. on Saturday, June 8. Those are:
- Southbound I-75 ramp to eastbound M-59. Traffic will be detoured west on M-59, then southbound Opdyke Road back to eastbound M-59.
- Westbound M-59 ramp to southbound I-75. Traffic will be detoured to southbound Opdyke Road, then to eastbound Square Lake Road back to southbound I-75.
Then, at 3 a.m. on Sunday, June 9, two more ramps will close. They are:
- Northbound I-75 ramp to westbound M-59. Traffic will be detoured east on M-59, then northbound Squirrel Road back to westbound M-59.
- Eastbound M-59 ramp to northbound I-75. Traffic will be detoured to northbound Opdyke Road, then eastbound University Drive back to northbound I-75.
In addition to the closures, southbound I-75 will be reduced to one lane from M-24 (Lapeer Rd.) to Square Lake Rd. at 3 a.m. Saturday through 3 p.m., and northbound I-75 will go down to one lane in the same direction from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The $221 million project is to repair 21 bridges on I-75 between South Blvd. and Baldwin Road, and work is expected to be completed in November.
