Police are now searching for a man who was believed to have been barricaded inside a house this morning on Detroit's west side.
SWAT teams were called to a home near Freeland and Midland Streets around 1 a.m. Monday morning.
Detroit police say the suspect reportedly assaulted his mother and then barricaded himself in a back bedroom with a handgun.
But, when officials entered the home, the suspect was nowhere to be found.
Police have identified the man as 25-year-old Darnell Stevenson. Family says he suffers from depression.
