(WXYZ) - Health experts are sending out a warning to new mothers who feed their babies with breast milk purchased online.
A new study found that the milk can contain potentially dangerous bacteria, including salmonella.
Researchers bought and tested more than 100 breast milk samples sold by women on one popular site.
And they found that 75% of those samples contained high amounts of bacteria that could sicken babies.
The study also cites several cases in which babies did get sick from a stranger's breast milk.
The FDA discourages both online and person-to-person sharing of breast milk.
