A growing number of companies are offering their employees coaches to help them transition from working person to working parent.

Coaches can help mothers and fathers balance their busy lives, and make a smooth return to work after maternity or paternity leave.

Amy Beacom, CEO of the Center for Parental Leave Leadership, said coaches are becoming more popular because millennials are demanding more of a work-life balance.

“The floodgates have really opened when it comes to parental leave coaching,” Beacom said. “Companies are seeing the benefit of it to their bottom line and their employees’ health and wellness.”

Allison Tyra, a new mother, said the coach helped her return to work after a three-month parental leave.

“I want to be able to do 100 percent at home, and I want to be able to do 100 percent at work,” Tyra said.

Beacom said coaching can be in-person, by phone or web-based. She added that more and more human resource departments are starting to offer the service.
