“I’m a lady with a truck with cute clothes.  And if you want to find something special, I’m your girl,” says Deidra Hogue.

Deidra owns a mobile boutique called “The Traveling Pants Company.” However, she sells much more than pants.

“I have more skirts and dresses than pants,” says Deidra with a smile.

The name of her mobile boutique is a play on the book and movie “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” She takes her truck all over Metro Detroit to events and private parties.

Deidra says “I just thought, I travel, I sell pants, I thought it was just the perfect name.”

Most of what she sells comes from Michigan designers with almost everything under $100 and she calls it a carbon copy of her closet.

“My motto is, if I won’t wear it, I won’t sell it,” says Deidra.

Although Deidra works in the financial industry, her heart has always been in fashion.  She got the idea for the company after seeing an article about another mobile boutique. Last July, she spent about $15,000 buying an old FedEx truck and having the outside wrapped. She turned the inside into a boutique that even includes a fitting room. The mother of two isn’t making enough to quit her finance job yet, but maybe someday.

She painted a bench from her backyard that she puts in front of the truck and calls it the husband/boyfriend/significant other bench to make everyone feel comfortable while shopping.  Now even men are asking when she is going to start selling men’s clothing.  Deidra plans to expand to small items like bowties, suspenders, pocket squares, and more.

Deidra says “my dream is to start lots of trucks and to have one here, in Miami, Chicago and Atlanta…”
