One man is in the hospital and another is behind bars this morning following a shooting at a movie theater in Clinton Township Sunday night.

Police say the incident started with an argument inside the AMC on Gratiot around 6 p.m. That's when one of the men allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the other.

A 52-year-old man reportedly smiled or said hello to the 24-year-old victim's girlfriend -- and that's when the fight started.

Theater employees say the shooting happened inside an auditorium in the hallway leading to the seats.

Police say there were no independent witnesses and they have heard two versions of how the shooting occurred.

Police say the victim is now in critical condition after getting shot in the upper chest area.

We're told the suspect is claiming self defense. An investigation is underway.

Police say the suspect has been released pending further investigation.
