(WXYZ) - The FBI took down several suspects believed to be involved in a big child-sex trafficking sting in the metro Detroit area.
We're told this was a national human trafficking operation and agents managed to save nearly 20 children across the area and arrest 12 suspects.
This child-sex trafficking sting called Operation Cross Country IX was spearheaded by the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, along with state and local law enforcement agencies.
The Detroit operation-- we're told-- was one of the most successful in the country.
The FBI field office worked with members of the Southeast Michigan's Crimes Against Children Task Force which includes Michigan State Police, Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office and police departments in Detroit, Southfield, Livonia, Dearborn and Roseville.
