DETROIT (WXYZ) — Robert is not giving up on his dream of being adopted out of foster care. “I'm 15, and I'm in 10th grade,” said Robert.

“I'm athletic. I like sports -- baseball, football, and basketball,” he explained.

He also likes music – his favorite genres being rap and old school hip-hop.

When it comes to his future, he is excited and ready to work hard.

“I want to become a successful businessman and an architect,” Robert said.

“I like watching a lot of movies and documentaries about how people own a lot of big businesses and stuff, and I want to try to go to North Carolina or Michigan or Michigan State or even Western Michigan University,” he explained.

“I'm most proud of my improvement in basically everything I do -- how I can improve and how I've already improved,” he said.

He is the middle child in his family. He wants to remain in contact with his siblings.

Robert has been waiting to be adopted out of foster care since December of 2015.

“It's important to adopt a teenager because a lot of teenagers have been through a lot of the same things I've been through and more for some people. They either don't have homes to go to for a while or maybe they wouldn't have a home to go to until they're out of the program,” he said softly.

“I'm looking for a family who can respect my feelings and my thoughts, my likes and dislikes. I'd like a mom and a dad, or I kind of just want there to be someone else besides just a dad. I'd like my parents to be definitely kind and loving and caring and athletic. And I would like a family that would respect my opinion,” Robert said.

He really enjoys animals – especially dogs. If he could have his own, he’d pick a German shepherd or husky
