2 killed while allegedly attempting to buy marijuana in Detroit

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police are investigating a double-fatal shooting that happened Saturday around 5:40 p.m. in the area of Steel and Westfield.

Two men, ages 26 and 37, were shot and killed, police say. The two arrived at the location to allegedly buy marijuana, according to a preliminary investigation.

When the two men pulled up in a Chevy Saturn, two unknown suspects began firing shots into the car. When first responders arrived on the scene, the victims were pronounced dead.

In addition to the fatal double shooting, police in Detroit are investigating another fatal shooting in the area of Pingree, and two non-fatal shootings – one on Glenwood and Kelly and the other on Barlow in Detroit.

A male John Doe is the victim of the shooting on Pingree. It occurred around 10:45 a.m. on Sunday in the 2900 block of Pingree. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are being investigated.

The first non-fatal shooting happened around 2:20 p.m. in the 20200 block of Barlow on Saturday. The 36-year-old victim was sitting in his vehicle in his driveway when he was shot. There was a witness in the vehicle with the victim.

The victim is in stable condition as police investigate the shooting.

The second non-fatal shooting happened Saturday around 9:20 p.m. in the area of Glenwood and Kelly. The victim is a 29-year-old man who was walking when he passed by a Jeep that was blocking the sidewalk.

A suspect in the Jeep got out of the vehicle and fired multiple shots, hitting the victim. Police haven't provided an update on the victim's condition.
