2 men charged for car chase that sent vehicle into water

GROSSE POINTE FARMS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Two men were charged for a car chase that caused a car to submerge in water at Pier Park in Grosse Pointe Farms.

Michael Sims , 23, and Dawaun McQueen, 29,both of Clinton Township, allegedly crashed into Pier Park while in a car chase with another car. The chase began at Seven Mile Road and Hoover Street in Detroit, according to police.

Grosse Pointe Farms police arrested the men that same day. The victims involved were three men who are in their 20s and from Detroit, according to police.

McQueen was charged with the following:

  • Assault with intent to murder (three counts)
  • Assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder (three counts)
  • Assault with a dangerous weapon (three counts)
  • Discharge of a firearm from a vehicle causing injury
  • Discharge of a firearm from a vehicle
  • Carrying a concealed weapon in a motor vehicle
  • Possession with intent to deliver less than 50 grams of cocaine
  • Felon-in-possession of a firearm
  • Felon-in-possession of ammunition
  • Fleeing and eluding—3rd degree
  • Felony firearm—(14 counts)

Sims received the following charges:

  • Assault with intent to murder (three counts)
  • Assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder (three counts)
  • Assault with a dangerous weapon (three counts)
  • Discharge of a firearm from a vehicle causing injury
  • Discharge of a firearm from a vehicle
  • Carrying a concealed weapon in a motor vehicle
  • Felony Firearm (11 counts)

McQueen has a $1 million dollar cash bond, while Sims has a $500,000 cash or surety bond.
