A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with two bank robberies that occurred in Rochester and Lathrup Village.

The Alliance Credit Union in Rochester was the victim of a robbery on July 23. Police say the suspect implied he had a gun and demanded money by passing the teller a note. The suspect then left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

TCF Bank in Lathrup Village was also the victim of a robbery on Aug. 8; the suspect implied he had a gun and demanded money by passing the teller a note. The suspect then left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Investigators received an anonymous tip that identified the suspect after surveillance photos were released.

Jeffrey Able, a former resident of Commerce Township, was linked to both robberies and was arrested on Aug. 14.

He has been charged with two counts of armed robbery for both incidents. Both charges carry a sentence of life or any term of years.

Police say the investigation revealed that Able may have been involved in several other violent crimes that are still under investigation.

His bond has been set at $1 million cash for the Rochester robbery and $750,000 cash for the Lathrup Village robbery.
