DETROIT (WXYZ) — Police arrested three people overnight after an armed robbery turned into a barricaded gunman situation on Detroit's west side.
Police say a teenager got into a fight with a 33-year-old man inside a coney island restaurant. When the fight was over, the 33-year-old pulled a gun, robbed the teen and took off.
Police went to the suspect's home around the corner on Abington, just off of West Warren, kicking off an hours-long negotiation with the man as he barricaded himself inside the home, along with another man.
Negotiators talked at least one man out of the house but the second person was in it for the long haul.
After phone calls, social media messages and more went unanswered, they had to fire gas in the home to get the second person out. Eventually, they came out of the house without injury.
It is currently unknown why a third person was taken into custody.
