The Michigan Humane Society is now in possession of a 3-foot-long ball python that was found at a car dealership on Wednesday in Ferndale.
According to humane society, the python is very tame and likely is someone's pet that got loose.
The humane society said the snake was brought by Detroit Zoo officials to the Rochester Hills Center for Animal Car, and the potential owner of the snake can reclaim it by bringing proof of ownership to the location. That can include a bill of sale, vet documents, photographs of them with the snake, etc.
According to the humane society, those who no longer want snakes can also surrender the snakes to the humane society, as releasing pet snakes into the wild is dangerous for children and pets.
The humane society has found homes for 15 ball pythons since 2010, and they have two wildlife professionals on staff.
