There's a new warning Tuesday morning from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services about a dangerous disease carried by mosquitoes.

It's called Eastern Equine Encephalitis or EEE.

Three cases are suspected in people in Kalamazoo and Berrien counties on the west side of the state.

Six cases have been confirmed in horses from those counties. All of them have been fatal.

EEE is one of the most dangerous mosquito-borne diseases in the country. It kills a third of people infected and 90 percent of horses that become infected.

There are vaccines available for horses but not humans.
