You think it’s just an ordinary Monday night, until it isn’t. Then suddenly, you’re confronted with cold, hard facts.

Sometimes you only have a split second to make a decision, to make a move.

“It was just first instinct, we care," said Reginald Calhoun. "I just hope someone would do it for my family”.

This is a story about one fire, three heroes and a lot of blessings to go around. How a trio of good people came together for good reason just in the nick of time.

When you really put what happened here in to perspective, it all comes down to one thing. If it were not for people caring about other people, the individuals who were inside a home on Harkwick Drive in Sterling Heights would likely not be alive.

Action News met the three men who saved them.

Three men were traveling on 19 Mile Road in Sterling Heights. Little did they know, maybe it was fate that a father and son and a stranger would soon meet.

Why?

Because their eyes saw the exact same thing – a house up in smoke and flames.

“I’m just thankful that we got the people outside of that house," said Devan Calhoun. "Anything could have happened.”

The third hero, Andrew Golec added, “You just do what’s best, what you think is going to be best for them."
