DETROIT (WXYZ) — Police are investigating a vehicle accident that turned into an armed robbery Friday night on Detroit's west side.

Around 11:42 p.m., a scout was dispatched to W. 7 Mile Road and Telegraph for an armed robbery in progress.

At the scene, the 43-year-old female victim told police she was driving her Toyota Camry south on Houghton from Vassar, when she was rear-ended by three people inside an older model Chevy Impala.

Both vehicles stopped, and the victim had gotten out of her car. She was approached by the driver of the Chevy, who demanded money for the damage to his vehicle.

The woman told the man he was the one who hit her car.

Two other men inside the Chevy Impala got out of the car, armed with handguns, according to police. All three suspects then robbed the woman of her belongings and sped off in an unknown direction.
