4 Macomb school districts join lawsuit against School Reform Office

School districts are banding together to send a message to the state School Reform Office and the governor.

They are against the takeover of local schools.

A news release from the Macomb Intermediate School District announces that school districts are teaming up with one mission.

The Boards of Education of Warren Consolidated Schools, Van Dyke Public Schools, Mount Clemens Community Schools and Roseville Community Schools requested to join the East Detroit Public Schools’ lawsuit against the School Reform Office.

They joined the suit after the State Reform Office threatened to close failing schools. It is under the control of the governor.

7 Action News asked School Reform Officer Natasha Baker about it in a recent interview - and she said the threat of closing schools in the bottom 5 percent is on the table.
