A 76-year-old man drowned on Wednesday after falling from a bridge while fishing in Lasalle Township.

Raymond Pfund of Monroe, Michigan reportedly fell off of Knabb Road Bridge into Otter Creek.

A Monroe County ambulance was first on the scene. Paramedics were able to locate the person. Attempts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigations revealed that Pfund was fishing and attempted to remove a fish off his line when he fell into the creek.

An eyewitness says Pfund was struggling to get out of the water before losing sight of him. He was later recovered under the bridge in four feet of water. An investigation is still under way.
