9 Michigan beaches closed because of high bacteria levels

(WXYZ) — It's going to be another warm weekend across metro Detroit and the state and people will be flocking to the beach for the Fourth of July, but nine Michigan beaches are closed because of high bacteria levels.

According to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, three of the beaches are in metro Detroit, and the closed beaches are spread across the state.

The beaches that are closed include (Metro Detroit counties are bolded):

– Reed Lake - Reed Lake Property Owners in Oakland County
– Saginaw Bay - Lake Huron - Foster Road Beach in Arenac County
– Ross Lake - Beaverton City Park in Gladwin County
– Campbell Lake - Robert Morris Park in Kalamazoo County
– Lake St. Clair - St. Clair Shores Memorial Park Beach in Macomb County
– Eagle Lake - Lakeland Estates in Oakland County
– Lake St. Helen - Richfield Township Public Fishing Site in Roscommon County
– Lake Gogebic - Gogebic County Park in Gogebic County
– Lake Gogebic - Lake Gogebic State Park Beach in Gogebic County
