A basement in shambles is what 90-year-old Lillian Arnone has to look at every day.
The St. Claire Shores homeowner living in Windwood Pointe Condominium says the problem began in early June, and since then has transformed her first level into a flood zone.
So far, she's had to get the drywall in the basement ripped out, and she hasn't been able to run her A/C in this year's unseasonably hot summer.
However, it's not just her unit. All four condos in a multi-unit building are facing the dilemma.
The million dollar question: Where is the water coming from?
The building does back up to a marina, but if there’s a problem the condo association is responsible for finding out and fixing it. Therein lies the problem. Weeks later, and the senior says there's been no fixes and no answers on why she's had to endure this for over two months.
7 Action News' Ameera David stepped in, and soon after, the condo association accessed the issue by sending in a diver who determined a potential problem with the seawall.
In a statement to Action News, an attorney for the condo association said it had, “tirelessly worked toward finding a solution to rectify this highly complex problem" and had “continuously updated its residents.”
They also said the work to resolve the problem would begin this week.
