(WXYZ) — If you love looking toward the sky, Wednesday night may be a great night for you. On Wednesday, July 31, there will be a black supermoon in the United States. That means it's a black moon and a super moon.

According to almanac.com, a black moon is the second new moon in a month. It's similar to a blue moon, which is the term for the second full moon in a single month. The first new moon happened on July 2.

The website says the black moon will happen at 11:12 p.m. on July 31, and they happen about every 2-3 years.

Earthsky.com also reports that the black moon will be a supermoon, but just be aware, you won't actually be able to see it. Because it's a new moon, it will cross the sky with the sun during the day. That means people looking for stars at night should have a better chance at seeing more if it's clear.
