When you fill up your car, does it matter where you get your gas? According to a study from AAA, the answer is yes!

The quality of gas sold can vary big time gas station to gas station.

AAA says only one third of retailers nationwide sell gasoline that meet Top Tier standards among all octane grades. This means all of their fuels have detergents that keep your car’s engine clean.

You can find a list of Top Tier retailers here.

AAA says a survey found most people choose their fuel based on price. This could cost them.

On average, gas that did not meet Top Tier standards cost $0.03 less. It also caused 19 times more engine deposits than Top Tier brands after just 4,000 miles of driving.

Those deposits impact fuel economy, emissions, and vehicle performance.
