Abandoned newborn baby found in metro Detroit, search for mother underway

7 Action News has obtained video that appears to show whomever dropped the baby off. We have highlighted that person in the upper left corner.

5:05 p.m.

7 Action News has obtained a photo of the newborn baby girl who was found abandoned in River Rouge on Sunday morning.

The baby was found outside of an adult foster care home in River Rouge. A care worker at the home found her on the sidewalk.

We're told police believe she was born about an hour ago and still had the umbilical cord attached and the placenta with the her.

The woman who found the baby told 7 Action News she immediately called 911 when she found the baby.

2:56 p.m.

A newborn baby was found abandoned in River Rouge on Sunday morning.

The baby was found near East Great Lakes and Alexander around 8:30 a.m.

Police are looking to find out who the mother is and where she went.

They are asking for the public's help for any information.

The baby was taken to a nearby hospital and is doing well.
