2 shot, 1 killed after active shooter reported at northwest Michigan home

GRANT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Mason County Sheriff's Office says two people were shot, one person was killed and the suspect is in custody after a reported active shooting this morning. The shooting happened at a home in the 10000 block of No. US-31 in Free Soil Township in Northwest Michigan.

Mason County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call, one of the victims, saying that the suspect was inside the home with small children inside as well.

With the help of the SWAT team, they were able to evacuate the wounded adult and two children inside the home.

After speaking with the suspect, he walked outside and surrendered to deputies. They were able to sweep the house and did find one man dead inside from gunshot wounds.

The other victim who was shot is in serious condition but has non-life-threatening injuries at the hospital.
