A jury has found Alan Wood guilty as charged in the murder in the 2011 death of 80-year-old Nancy Dailey.
Investigators say the 49-year-old and his girlfriend, Tonia Watson, brutally beat Dailey then slit her throat.
Watson cut a plea deal and is set to be sentenced on February 5. Wood will face a judge for sentencing on February 15.
The 80-year-old was discovered in her home with her hands tied and her throat cut. It is reported she was killed because she wouldn't give Alan Wood her pin number and money.
Detective Barry Edgell of Royal Oak testified Wood pulled Nancy to the floor near the bathroom door and tried to break her neck by twisting and turning it. In the end police found her with her hands tied and her throat cut.
Police in Royal Oak say this is a tragic case that people can learn from because Nancy Dailey trusted the pair to do work around her house, but they were strangers who acted friendly and nice.
